Installation Guide

  • We recommend keeping the vessels in their packaging material until they are ready to be installed.

  • Many of the vessels are heavy and are best handled by professional installers in teams of two or more.

  • While the concrete is extremely strong the edges of the vessels are delicate. Take care when installing to avoid any chipping or damage to the surface.

  • Many of the vessels are designed to slot into one another and should be arranged according to drainage requirements and plant material.

  • All plants have very specific requirements to lead a healthy life. We recommend consulting a professional to advise on plant choices best suited for your project.

  • Should the vessels have soil marks on them from the installation of plant material it is best to clean them immediately with a non-abrasive cleaning agent and stiff bristle brush.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the planters suitable for both indoors and outdoors?

Yes. Each piece can be used in interior or exterior settings.

How does water drain through them?

Each planter is offered with or without a drainage port, which must be specified during the ordering process.

Are the planters waterproofed?

Yes. All pieces are double waterproofed from the inside. This prevents water seeping into the concrete body of the planter. For vessels ordered without drainage the waterproofing will catch any excess / unwanted water from the plant’s watering schedule.

Are the planters sealed?
Yes. They are finished with a matter sealer. The sealer keeps dust and moisture out but does not prevent stains or scuff marks.

Will they gain patina over time?

Yes. Concrete is porous and so will develop a patina as it ages. The patina will develop more rapidly outside and according to the surrounding environment.

Are the planters suitable for edible gardens?

No. The concrete mix design, waterproofing and sealers are not organic and thus should not be used to grow plants intended for consumption.

How do I clean them?

Mild soapy water or a magic eraser is best for regular upkeep. For scuff marks we recommend any calcium carbonate cleaner (ie. Comet, Barkeeper’s Friend) and a non-metal stiff bristle brush.
